Before you decide

Visit first. Ask about the fee second.

Send the town on the enquire page. A request is not a booking until the office confirms a day, and confirms there is a home to see in that part of the country.

Where
Anywhere in the United Kingdom. The town you write is the place we start from.
How we reply
By email, to the address you give. There is no public phone line on this site.
Who should come
The person the care is for, if they are able and willing, and the people who know them.
What to bring
A list of medicines, and the questions you do not want to forget. You do not need a referral letter to look around.

Fees

There is no single weekly price on this page, because the fee depends on the care a person needs. Before anyone moves in, the home will say what the fee is, what it covers, and what would be charged on top, such as hairdressing or a particular newspaper. Get that in writing.

Some people pay the fee themselves. Some are funded, in whole or in part, by the local authority, or with NHS continuing healthcare where the health need meets that test. We can explain how a fee is billed. We cannot decide an assessment that belongs to the council or the NHS. If you think public funding may apply, ask the adult social care team for the council where the person lives, as well as writing to us.

After a visit

You do not have to decide in the car park. If the home can offer a place, it will say so, and it will say what still has to be checked. If it cannot, it should say why. Take the time the decision deserves.
