If something is wrong
Say it to the home first, and do not stop there if you need to.
A worry about care, meals, money, or the way someone was spoken to should be written through the contact form. Say which part of the UK the care is in. Ask for the complaint to be recorded, and ask when you will hear back.
If you are worried that someone is at risk of harm now, say that when you call. If you believe a crime has been committed, contact the police. A medical emergency is 999.
If the home does not put the matter right, adult social care complaints can be taken to the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman. The Care Quality Commission does not investigate a complaint for an individual family, but it does want to know about poor care. You can share a concern through the CQC page for Abbeywood House.
You can also speak to Torbay Council’s adult social care safeguarding team if you think an adult with care needs is being abused or neglected.
This page is the route. It is not a promise about how a particular complaint from the past was handled. Those records belong to the time they were made, including the time of the previous provider.
